The commitment to his clients and passion for the financial markets is evident today even though his early professional years exposed Mr. Crespo to several industries before turning his full focus on investment management. His diverse experience is a valuable asset to successfully apply balanced quantitative fundamental and technical analyses to his investment management and advisory practice.
Pablo graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico after completing the nationally-ranked five-year program with a concentration in power generation, engineering processes, and psychology. He was the president of the graduating class and enjoyed the leadership and business challenges of the position through May of 1991.
His engineering degree and power generation work earned him acceptance into the civilian Naval Nuclear Engineering program under the Nuclear Engineering Department of Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He successfully completed a rigorous Naval Nuclear Shift Test Engineering classroom instruction and practical training program in nuclear reactor theory and operations. As part of the test engineering team, he assisted in maintaining reactor plant conditions necessary to accomplish the overhaul, repair, and modification of the various reactor plant systems in nuclear aircraft carriers, destroyer class nuclear ships, and SSN Class nuclear submarines. After a few years in the nuclear engineering field, and with the online retail trading revolution starting to take shape in the mid-1990s, his business and finance interest took center stage.
In 1997 Pablo graduated from The College of William & Mary’s Mason School of Business with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) focused on financial markets. Upon graduation, he joined Malmgren & Associates to work on small to middle market mergers and acquisitions where he examined debt and equity capital structures to recommend and source re-capitalization & financing alternatives. As an Associate, he also completed commercial real estate acquisition & development transactions as well as extensive valuation and financial examinations during the underwriting process of small to middle market privately held corporations involved in corporate finance transactions including management & leveraged Buyouts (MBOs), mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and joint ventures.
Through 2013, Mr. Crespo he was also a member of the executive team at Hui O Hana Pono & The Hana Group. He was instrumental in building the federal contracting startup into a conglomerate with over $40 million in yearly revenues. In his last direct project, Pablo lead the financial management and operational oversight of a highly visible politically-charged project in the missile defense industry.
After an extensive planning period, in March 2014 Mr. Crespo formally founded CorePro Capital to serve both retail and institutional clients. He completed all licensing, regulatory registrations, and compliance requirements to go live with the initial proprietary investment strategies in October 2014 as a Registered Investment Adviser (RIA) and Commodities Trading Adviser (CTA). He personally planned, sourced, and implemented all aspects of the company’s infrastructure serving all areas from back-end financial accounting to practice management, inclusive of trading and investment operations, with a focus on compliance, reliability, capacity, and cutting-edge technology to easily support up to $100 million in assets under management (AUM) before any changes are needed. Pablo leads the designs and implementation of all actively-managed equity and futures strategies within a diversified product lineup that suits a wide range of investors’ risk and performance profiles.
